Mapping post ICU patient and family organisations?
Dear colleagues and leaders of national intensive care societies,
We are pleased to invite you to participate in an initiative being developed by the Rehabilitation & PICS section of the European Society of Intensive Care Medicine (ESICM). This is a mapping exercise aimed at identifying and making visible patient and family organisations involved in recovery after a stay in intensive care.
Brief background
Patient and family organisations are key actors in post‑ICU recovery, but they remain poorly mapped and integrated into clinical pathways.
Objectives of the mapping exercise
This mapping exercise, led by the ESICM Rehabilitation & PICS section, aims to:
- Create a public map/directory of existing patient organisations on the ESICM website.
- Improve visibility of patient organisations
- Help patients and families find support in their local context.
- Stimulate collaboration at a strategic level in education or research projects (Public and Patient Involvement (PPI)).
- Connect communities working on post‑ICU recovery, including support for both survivors and families.
To collaborate with this mapping exercise, we would be deeply grateful if you could:
- Distribute the survey link among your local networks.
- Identify potential organisations in your country that might be interested in participating.
- Complete the questionnaire if you belong to any organisation.
No personal or confidential information is requested. The questionnaire only collects general, non‑sensitive details about the organisation
